Christ Jesus, the true Light of the world

Christ Jesus, the true Light of the world

In Him (Christ) was life; and the life was the light of men

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.

He came unto His own, and His own received Him not.

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name:

Which were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:4-13).

Many religious leaders or teachers claim themselves as the “enlightened souls”. They have followers also. Who is this Jesus? Is He also one of such “enlightened” religious leaders? Let us read this article.

Life in Christ Jesus

The Bible says that life was in Christ Jesus and that this life was the light of men. The eternal life or the source of all life in this universe is Jesus Christ only. The life in Him gives life to a baby in embryo. It gives life eternal to the dead soul of a sinner. It gives life to the sick body of a man on his deathbed. All the living beings of this universe breathe in this very life. Do you want salvation from your sinful life? Breathe in His life. Do you want divine healing? Breathe in His life. Do you want peace of mind? Breathe in His life.

The life in Him is the light of men. The sin-stained soul of a man cannot give light to those who live in sin. Christ lived a sinless life. Any one who goes to Him with his whole heart to find im is lightened by His life. He will never return disappointed because he gives the eternal life of God. One who comes to Jesus will never return disappointed because he gets the eternal life of God. Education or wealth will never lighten the soul of a man. Only the life in Christ can lighten his or her soul.

Light in the darkness

This light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it. Many rulers and the kings of this world attempted to put off this Light by persecuting or killing His disciples. However, this Light shines steadily even today. The so-called enlightenment of man does not shine in the darkness. The so-called enlightenment dies with him in his death. The “enlightened man” can preach on moral values but his own life will never overcome the spiritual darkness caused by the sin. He can preach but cannot practice what he preaches. However, the living Christ is with us and through His life, we can overcome the darkness caused by the sin. The Light has been shining in the darkness during all these 2000 years.

Man, not God

The Bible distinguishes a man from the God. It says very clearly that there was a man sent from God whose name was John. This man came for a witness to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. Man, howsoever enlightened he may be by the study of the Vedas or the holy books of knowledge, cannot take the place of God, the Creator. John “was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light”. A disciple of Jesus is not Light but is sent from God to bear witness of that Light. Any human being claiming himself/herself to be a god or a goddess is in falsehood.

True Light

Christ is the true Light, which gives light to every man coming into the world. He is the true Light. This means that there are many who pretend to be the true light bearers of God but their life do not radiate the life of God. Christ is not merely of the Light but is the very and true Light who gives light to every man, irrespective of his religion, caste or nationality.

Many religious leaders have died and their glory ended in their graves. However, Christ, the true Light who rose from the dead lives today and gives light through His life to every man.

World knows Him not

The Bible says, “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him” (Vs.10). It is a pity that the people of this world who lived during the earthly life of Jesus did not know Him though He was in the world and though the world was made through Him. Today also, majority of the people of this world know about Him mostly as an outstanding religious or spiritual leader and do not know Him as the One through whom this world was made. At the time of creation of the heavens and the world, God said, “Let there be light” and there was light (Gen.1: 3). The light had come into the world before God commenced His creation work. The Light came of God. Christ the Light was in the beginning with God. This is the life giving Light sustaining all the living beings in this universe.

“I am the light of the world”

Jesus Himself said in John 8:12: “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life”. No religious leader of this world, either dead or alive, has ever claimed himself/herself as “the light of the world”. A disciple of Christ who follows His living Guru (Teacher), Jesus, shall not walk in darkness but has the light of life. He will lead those in darkness to the true Light.

Salvation for all

The Bible further says, “He came to His own and His own did not receive Him” (Vs.11). Jesus came to His own people, Jews, but they did not receive Him. Their knowledge of reasoning stood in the way of accepting Him as their Savior. Instead, they crucified Him. The Bible gives a hope to the lost men of the non-Jewish race. He gives power to become the sons of God to those who receive Him and believe on His Name.im. His offer of salvation is for all the people of this world, irrespective of their nationality or religion. Those who believe on His Name are born of God, and thus become the sons of God.
